Dearly Beloved,
It certainly appears that Mother Nature threw us a curve ball today with an unlooked for amount of snow. As I am writing, there is already 3 inches on the ground here at my house and apparently another 3 or more to come. We will just have to wait and see.
With that said, keeping everyone’s safety in mind, we are canceling the Ladies Advent Luncheon and the Men’s Brats & Beer, which were to happen tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. Please pass the word to anyone who may have been coming with you. We want to be sure everyone knows about the cancellations. Also, the Madrigal Dinner at the church tonight has also been canceled.
We do anticipate that we will be back together in church on Sunday but, of course, use your best judgment regarding that. If any of you have a need due to this unexpected snowfall, please let me know and we will see how we can help. Enjoy your snow day!
Now on to some news for this week…
Angel Tree
Remember that the gifts for the Angel Tree are due this coming Sunday, December 10. Don’t forget!
Parish Education
Sunday morning we will have our last Adult Sunday School class for this year. Our Tuesday Book Study is on break until January 9 and Wednesday Night Bible Study & Fellowship Dinner will next meet on January 3.
Christmas Schedule
Our Christmas Schedule is a bit different this year because Christmas Eve and the Fourth Sunday in Advent are the same day. We will have only one celebration of the Holy Communion on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. Then we will begin Christmas with our Family Eucharist at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Christmas Mass at Midnight at 11:00 p.m. On Christmas Day, we will have Holy Communion at 10:00 a.m.
Vestry Meeting
The vestry meets in the parish hall this coming Monday, December 11, at 6:30 p.m. First on the agenda will be to elect your new officers for the coming year.
News of Note
As many of you know, Loretta Reynolds went home from the hospital last Sunday after shoulder replacement surgery. She is doing very well. Please continue your prayers for her recovery.
News of Note #2
Cynthia Hensley’s father, NASCAR Hall of Famer Jack Ingram, was in a very bad car accident last Sunday. He has been in ICU at Mission Hospital ever since. Due to having most of his ribs broken, he was placed on a ventilator to help him breath. He has been making good progress and is spending periods of time off the respirator. He is sitting up, and is alert and communicating with the family. Please continue your prayers for him also.
That is about it for this week. Enjoy the snow today, but please be safe if you have to go out in it. See you in church on Sunday.
Blessings,
Fr. Erich
