Dearly Beloved,
We had a glorious Holy Week and Easter here in the parish. It was such a pleasure to see some old friends finally able to worship with us again, as well as welcome many visitors. We have been so blessed as a Family in Christ.
Christian Education
Things have been fairly quiet around here since Easter and it is now time to get back to Sunday School and Bible Study. Sunday School returns this coming Sunday, April 18, at 9:45 a.m. Also Bible Study returns on Wednesday evening, April 21, at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall. We will be studying the Old Testament Book of Ruth. The Tuesday Book Study will return on April 27. More information on that will be announced next week.
Last Call for Lenten Offering
As you know, our Lenten/mite box offering has been directed to a new church plant in Connersville, Indiana. A friend of mine, Fr. Richard Tarsitano, with his wife Meghan and their children, has procured a historic church building in that small town with the intent to recover that space for the worship of Almighty God in our traditional Anglican Way of Christianity. The family sold their home in Florida and used the proceeds to purchase what is now Trinity Anglican Church and its rectory. Fr. Tarsitano is a “tent-maker” priest, working at a local social service organization. This is truly a missionary endeavor as the family has completely stepped out in faith, trusting that our Lord will bring the increase.
Thank you to all of you who have already participated as we provide a blessing to this missionary work undertaken by a faithful priest and his wife. If you have not already done so, please return your mite boxes this coming Sunday and/or drop an offering in the plate for this worthy endeavor. If you want to give right now, just click right here and give via our online portal. Just “write a note” on the payment page with “Lent Offering.” Thanks so very much!
COVID Positive Cases
While we have been blessed to have very few COVID cases in our parish over the past year, we have, unfortunately, had three parishioners test positive this week. Two of the parishioners were not in church this past weekend. Both are dealing with their symptoms and those symptoms do not appear to be worsening at this time. The third parishioner was here this past Sunday, but all those who had close contact have been notified. Thankfully, the symptoms in this case have been mild. Since this is a public email, we do not identify anyone who tests positive due to medical privacy concerns. Please feel free to call me if you have any questions or just ask me on Sunday. Please keep these parishioners in your prayers for a speedy recovery.
New Playground
On the Sunday before Lent began, Dss. Cynthia gave us a presentation about the possibility of replacing our badly worn playground equipment. I am happy to report that you all responded generously and have given or committed all the funding necessary to begin this work. The Vestry, at its monthly meeting this past Monday, gave approval to move forward with this project and we look forward to the work being completed in the next 2 months. Thank you all very much for supporting this very important project!
Craft Market 2021
Craft Market Committee will meet again on Sunday, April 25, during the Sunday school hour. All committee members should plan on attending that day.
Ministry Opportunity!
We are in need of Ushers for our principal service of Holy Communion on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. Please contact Loretta Reynolds or Dss. Cynthia if you are interested in ushering.
Vacation Bible School
The dates for our Vacation Bible School are June 21—25. We will gather each morning at 9:00 a.m. and close each day at 12:00. Please let Dss. Cynthia know if you are interested in volunteering for this most important ministry to children.
Registration is now available on our website. Click here to register your children or grandchildren. Please be sure and spread the word to families with young children, ages 3-12 years old and share the registration link with them. You can also get to the registration page from the front page of the website. It is under the Youth Ministry tab on the main menu.
That is all the news for this week. I look forward to seeing all of you in church and don’t forget to pray for one another just as our Savior intercedes for us at the right hand of the Throne of Glory in heaven.
Blessings,
Fr. Erich
