The poor are with you always!
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “ye have the poor always with you…” (St. Matt. 26:11). While he said this in the context of the disciples worrying about the “waste” of precious ointment, the meaning behind his words assumes that we should always care for the poor. When was the last time you “cared” for the poor in a meaningful and substantial way? Please be honest with yourself. This parish has always provided a simple way for us to do so in our monthly in-gathering of non-perishable foods. All of us should be participating in this way, caring for those in need. And we should make this a regular part of our Christian service. Please prayerfully make the decision to begin today and make this a part of your personal discipline by participating every month. Interfaith Assistance Ministry, here in Henderson County, is the January recipient our in-gathering.
Vestry Meeting Tonight
The Vestry will hold its monthly meeting tonight, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. in the parish hall.
Tuesday Bible Study
Tuesday morning Bible study returns tomorrow, Tuesday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. For our winter study, we will be reading and discussing the Epistle of St. James. Please read the first chapter for this week’s class.
